Davit Karapetyan

Davit Karapetyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia. He studied at the Swiss Professional Ballet School in Zürich under Oliver Matz and at the Armenian School of Ballet. During his studies, Karapetyan was a recipient of several awards, including in 1997; Gold Medal at the Armenian Ballet Competion and in 1999 he received the Professional Dancers Price at the Prix de Lausanne. He joined the Zurich Ballet in 1999 where he danced works from Hans van Manen, George Balanchine, and of course from artistic director Heinz Spoerli, for example as soloist in Spoerli's La fill Mal Gardee, Sacre du Printemps and Goldberg Variations. After 6 years with the Zürich Ballet he changed to the San Francisco Ballet where he was immediately accepted as a Principal Dancer. He has distinguished himself in Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote and in works from Helgi Tomasson, George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins and others. Davit Karapetyan has appeared in International Ballet Galas in Japan, Armenia and Germany.
