

Frances Chung was born in Vancouver, Canada. She completed her ballet education at the 'Goh Ballet Academy'. In 2000 she won the Silver Medal at the 'Adeline Genee Awards' in London, was a prizewinner at the 'Prix de Lausanne' and became a finalist at the 'International Ballet Competion 2001' in Helsinki . In the same year she joined the San Francisco Ballet where she was promoted to Soloist in 2005.She performed numerous main roles, working with choreographers such as Helgi Tomasson, Possokhov, Bintley, Lubovitch, MacMillan, Robbins, Wheeldon and Welch. She appeared as a guest artist at the 'Spoleto Festival' in Italy with the Tchaikovsky 'Pas de Deux' and the third act 'Don Quixote'. This season Frances Chung, danced besides other Galas, as a guest star at the International Ballet Gala in Cannes , France and Australia. Frances Chung was promoted to Principal at the San Francisco Ballet in 2009.
