Ilja Louwen

International Guest Artist Ilja louwen was born in Amsterdam, Holland. She completed her ballet education at the Royal Conservatory in the Haque, Holland. From there she went on to perform with a variety of companies including 'Scapino Ballet' under Nils Christe, 'Deutsche Oper am Rhein', and 'Zürich Ballet' under Heinz Spoerli. Heinz Spoerli created numerous roles for her. She went on to dance for 'Les Ballets de Monte Carlo' under Jean Christoph Maillot and "Ballet Victor Ullate". Throughout her career she has worked with and on pieces by such renowned choreographers as William Forsythe, Mats Ek, Maurice Bejart, George Balanchine, Jiri Kylian, Hans van Manen and many more. Since 2002, Ilja has become an international guest artist and is in great demand for International Galas like Malakhov&friends in Berlin, Gala of stars in Taipei, Rudolf Nureyev Gala, Gala des Etoiles Toronto, World stars at the opera in Budapest and many more. In 2004 she was nominated for the 'VSCD Dance Awards Netherlands', 'Best Dancer 2004' for her role in 'Sister fury' by Ed Wubbe. As a guest she appeared with Scapino Ballet, Berlin Ballet, Basler Ballet und Queensland Ballet in Australia . Ilja louwen also provides choreographic assistence for Leo Mujic's, wich is also her dance partner.
