Lorena Feijoo

Lorena Feijoo

Lorena Feijoo was born and trained in Havana, Cuba. She received her first engagement at the Ballet National de Cuba under the direction of the legendary Prima Ballerina, Alicia Alonso. She advanced there to the position of Prima Ballerina. In 1985 she was a Bronce Medallist Winner at the International Ballet Competion in Varna, Bulgaria. In 1990 Lorena left Ballet National to pursue other artistic opportunities . She became Principal Dancer of Ballet Monterrey (1990-1993), Royal Ballet of Flanders (1993-1995) and The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago (1995-1999). She joined the San Francisco Ballet as a Principal Dancer in 1999 under the Direction of Helgi Tomasson. Lorena has danced every major classical ballet role to critical acclaim and also performed important contemporary works by influential choreographers such as Balanchine, Tudor, Forsythe, Wheeldon, Lubovitch and Morris . She regularly appears on the international stage to sold out audiences including New York, Paris, Tokyo, London and Milan. Feijoo has forged memorable partnerships with Carlos Acosta from Royal Ballet, Jose Manuel Carreno from American Ballet Theatre and Yuri Possokhov from San Francisco.
