Ruben Martin

Ruben Martin

Ruben Martin is currently a Principal Dancer with the San Francisco Ballet. He was born in Reus, Spain, and trained at the Escuela Municipal de Danza, Zaragoza, Spain and at the Estudio de Danzas de Maria de Avilla. He received his first engagement with English National Ballet where he interpretate many works from Derek Deanne. In the year 2000 he became a member of the San Francisco Ballet, where he was promoted in 2006 to Principal Dancer. His wide repertoire includes both classical works ( including almost all the main Parts of the Classical Ballet Repertoir) and contemporary works, including Helgi Tomasson, Lubovitch, Morris, Ashton, Balanchine, Tetley and others. As a guest artist Ruben Martin performed with the Oregon Ballet Theatre in the role Prince Siegfried in 2004, in Christopher Stowell's Swan Lake in 2006 and at the International Gala in Teatre Real in Madrid in 2004. In the year 2006 he was nominated for the Isadora Duncan Award for best ensemble performance in Robbins's Glass Pieces.
