Sarah van Patten

Born in Boston, USA, Sarah van Patten began her ballet training at the Ballet Workshop of New England and at the Boston Ballet School. During her studies she won the Chautauqua Festival Artistic Director Award 1997. At the young age of 16 she became a member of the Royal Danish Ballet and immediately won Denmark's New Talent Prize as the outstanding apprentice of 2001. In 2002 she became a member of the San Francisco Ballet where she was promoted to Principal Dancer in 2007 at the age of 23. Sarah van Patten has interpretated various main roles of the Ballet Repertoir, such as the Sugar Plum Fairy in Nutcracker, Giselle in Giselle or Odette/Odile in Swanlake as well as works from Balanchine, Tomasson, Morris, MacMillan, Possokhov, Bournonville and many others. She was votes as one of the "10 best Performances in the WOrld" for her interpretation as Odette/Odile in Swanlake.
