Vanessa Zahorian

Vanessa Zahorian

Vanessa Zahorian was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania and trained at the Kirov Academy of Ballet and with Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. During her studies she won several awards such as the Bronze Medal at the Japan International Ballet and Modern Dance Competion in Nagoya, Japan, in 1996 and Best Young Soloist at the International Ballet Competion in Memory of Rudolf Nureyev. In 1997 she became a member of the San Francisco Ballet , she was promoted to Soloist in 1999 and named Principal Dancer in 2002. Her repertoire of leading roles includes Aurora in Sleeping Beauty, Kitri in Don Quixote and Sylvia in Sylvia as well as works from Balanchine, Tomasson, MacMillan, Forsythe and van Manen. She danced as a guest star in Fukuoka, Japan in the role of Giselle and appeared on various international Ballet Galas. In the summer of 2006 Vanessa Zahorian won the prize of best couple in the senior division with Davit Karapetyan at the U.S.A International Ballet competion, Jackson, Mississippi.
