Tigran Mikayelyan

Münchner Staatsballet
Tigran Mikayelyan was born in Yerevan/Armenia. Here he started his ballet education at the Armenian Ballet School Erewan, before he changed to the Swiss Ballet Academy SBBS in Zürich. In 1997 he won the Armenian Ballet Competion Amadeus and one year later at the Prix de Lausanne the Prix Niveau Professional. He received his first engagement in 1998 with the Zürich Ballet where he was promoted to soloist in 2003. Here he danced the complete repertoire of Heinz Spoerli and ballets from Hans van Manen and George Balanchine. Since 2005 he has been soloist with the Bayerischen Staatsballett in Münich, where he was promoted to Principal Dancer at the beginning of the season 2007/2008. In the spring of 2007 Tigran Mikalyan received the most prestigious award of his native country Honoured Artist of Armenia and that summer he received the Theatre Prize of the Münchner Merkurs. His repertoire includes Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake, Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, Ali in Corsaire and works from MacMillan, George Balanchine, William Forshyte, Jacopo Godani and many more.
